Cosmetics companies and breast cancer

It sounds noble: a cosmetics company promises that if you buy one of its products, a portion of the sale will go toward “the fight against breast cancer.”

But what if that cosmetic contains chemicals that might actually increase your risk of developing the disease? Please read more on this...

A personal note from me to you.

Women’s Issues are the greatest disease of all times. It does spread from woman to woman, from generation to generation, from century to century. However, no cure has been found for a “disease” which doesn’t exist under the eyes of a dysfunctional society, but it’s widely propagated, promoted and contagious among Women. Women Issues are the cause of why women are unhappy, out of balance, get sick and Spiritually and mentally remain enslaved by this globally oriented Patriarchal society.
I title this page Women and Beauty because indeed Beauty is at the core of all Women’s issues. In the consciousness of the vast majority of women, coexist the belief that a woman’s value is based on her Beauty first then her brains. I believe for this to be truth, however, what is the perception we have about beauty, is where the problem resides. In this society we have been wrongfully manipulated to believe and mislead, when it comes to “decode” what Beauty is all about.

Because Women don’t feel Special is why they don’t feel beautiful. Because Women don’t feel Special is why they feel jealousy, envy, rivalry, are competitive and aggressive towards other women. With all these barriers put between them, still they all have something in common. They all worship, desire or search for Beauty. Most women will love to look like a top model, because they think they will feel special. All my life I have asked myself the same question; but what is being beautiful? Many years later I found the response. Being Beautiful, is To Feel Special. Is it really that simple because when you feel special, you feel Beautiful; and the only way to feel special is by loving yourself.

The lesson here for us Women is to Remember who we are and learn how to love ourselves once again and forever. Loving yourself means to take the necessary steps to recover and honor your stolen power. How do you do that? By Empowering yourself mentally, Spiritually, emotionally and physically. Once you accomplish that, you'll feel the most Beautiful and powerful woman in the world. But the most important thing is that you'll appreciate and honor other women's beauty and power as well.

To feel Beautiful, you don't need to look like a top model. Being a Beautiful sexy Woman is not about how "perfect" your body is, but most important how do you feel about your body and how you choose to express that. We will never change "The Beauty Industry's Standards and stereotypes" until we Women first, don't change the way we see ourselves.

If you look around and try to find Beauty to become like, you'll never find it, because Beauty is on the inside. Beauty is Unique and can not be copied. When you properly take care of yourself from the inside out, re-connect with the Spirit, Empower your mind and strengthen your emotional self, then that Beauty will start to show up to the surface.

Because Beauty is all about the inner self; when you acknowledge your inner Beauty and take care of your physical self, miracles can happen.

I believe our body is a sacred temple and we should honor it by taking responsible care of it. When it comes to Beauty, women try to buy all kinds of stuff they see on TV and magazines, without really understanding how the same products that promise “beauty“ actually become the “killers of beauty“. Every day millions of women reach out for shampoo, conditioner, body cream, deodorant, skin care products, cosmetics, and many other products we use in our everyday life. What we don’t know or fully understand is that these products have been scientifically proved to create cancer cells.

What many women don’t know is that in their search for beauty, they are poisoning themselves and intoxicating their bodies with deadly substances. I believe in beauty and keeping ourselves beautiful and healthy, but in a wise, more healthy and natural way.
If you don’t care to know what are the ingredients on the labels of the beauty products you use or buy, you better start to seriously reconsider the choices you are consciously or unconsciously making.

EDUCATE YOURSELF, STOP THE INSANITY AND POISONING YOUR SKIN.

Each and every day millions of women are unknowingly exposing themselves to dangerous, toxic chemicals. Some of these chemicals are absolutely, without a doubt known to be cancer causing. While other chemicals are not linked to cancer, they have been shown to contribute to hormonal disruptions, headaches, allergies, depression, chronic fatigue, learning disabilities, hyperactivity, and irritability. You are very likely a victim of this dilemma and have been so since childhood.

Believe it or not, the very products that you have been taught to be beneficial for you are the very products that contain ingredients that may be posing a serious threat to your health. Skin care products, cosmetics and products like soap, shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, and make-up usually contain cheap, synthetic ingredients that are harmful and poison our bodies.

Have you ever read the ingredient listing on a personal care product and wondered what all those big, complicated words really mean? This page will provide you with the information you need to make educated decisions about the products that you put on your skin.

Your skin is much more than an outer surface for the world to see — it’s the largest organ of your body!

Natural Body Butter
Do something extraordinary for your youthful looks today.

Plus, it has a number of amazing responsibilities that you probably don’t think about on a daily basis:

  • Protects your internal organs from injury and infection.
  • Helps detoxify wastes through perspiration.
  • Provides an important line of immune defense against infections — your healthy skin creates a barrier to viruses and bacteria.
  • Protects you against extreme changes in temperature, through its thermoregulatory effect of controlling heat flow between you and your environment.
  • Produces and stores vitamin D, which is important to your immune system.
  • Rich in receptors, it allows you to sense conditions around you — like hard/soft and hot/cold — and send information to your brain so you can react to it for self-preservation.
  • Protects your body from sunburns.
  • Protects you from dehydration.

The loss of any of these functions will compromise your best health — and can accelerate signs of normal aging.

Put simply, your skin plays a major role in your health.

This information may sound unbelievable, but bear one thing in mind. In 1938 the FDA granted the personal care industry the power to regulate itself. Therefore, products can be marketed without government approval of ingredients, regardless of what tests show. Pre-market safety tests are not required and with the exception of a small amount of banned chemicals, manufacturers can add almost any ingredient to a personal care product.

An urban myth was proved when British researchers at the University of Reading found traces of chemical preservatives called parabens in breast cancer tissue. This finding supported the long-running urban legend that underarm antiperspirants and some deodorants cause breast cancer. (For more on the breast cancer-antiperspirant link, see Daily Health News, March 16, 2004.) While it's easy to dismiss the problem and simply stop using deodorants/antiperspirants, the fact of the matter is that parabens are in many other products we all commonly use.

AN ESTROGENIC IMPACT

Parabens -- benzylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben and others -- are commonly used to increase the shelf life of a wide range of personal care products, such as deodorants, shampoos, skin lotions and cosmetics. They're also used in pharmaceuticals and foods. The problem is that these chemicals are what scientists refer to as "weakly estrogenic." That is, in the body, they mimic the action of the natural hormone estrogen, many metabolites of which play a role in the development of breast tumors.

Make Your Own Natural Homemade Skin Care products With Simple Recipes.

 Introduction

Making your own moisturising face and body cream is simple, fun and cost effective. The beauty of making your own products is in knowing exactly what ingredients are being used and in being able to use only pure, natural ingredients combined in recipes that address your skin type and/or skin problem.

From the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra to the Japanese geishas, all used herbs to protect and rejuvenate their skin, and until the end of the 19th century, for women, herbs were the most important part of the process of looking young and healthy. Their cosmetic tools were natural oils extracted carefully from plants that their mothers had used for the same purpose. You too can make your own homemade skin care products with natural ingredients to reduce aging effects on your skin.

By the middle of the 20th century, the use of herbs was regarded as old fashioned, and we were told that the best products to use for the care of our skin were the ones made in a chemical laboratory. Petrochemicals were blossoming and big corporations started to bombard the public with clever advertising, making them believe that their new synthetic and chemical fill creams were the most effective way of skin care. That’s how we forgot that plants were used for hundreds of years to treat skin disorders and to keep it beautiful and healthy.

Looking at the labels of some of these products manufactured by chemists makes me wonder who in their right mind would dare to open the container and spread the content on their faces. Some moisturizers and lotions contain Propylene, glycol, isopropyl, and parabens, known to be cancer-causing ingredients.

There are a few simple rules that must be followed in order to make face and body creams or peeling creams effectively; but beyond these there are endless possibilities for inventing and making your own creams for different purposes, for yourself, family or friends.

How to preserve and extend the shelf life of your skin, nail and hair care products you make at home.

As we all know, when making our own skin care and hair care products, the shelf life is not as long as commercial products. Commercial products contain preservatives, and other chemicals to extend shelf life for months if not years. And that's the main reason why most of us like to make our own products, to avoid these harsh chemicals. So, what can we do to prolong the shelf life of natural beauty products? Here's a few ideas....

  • If working with food in your recipes, it's best just to stick to one use batches. Don't make anymore then what you can use at a single time. Or make just enough to last 1 week and store in the fridge.
  • Always keep water away from your jars! Even dipping a wet finger into a jar of your fresh lotion can contaminate it. Always make sure fingers are clean and dry or use an application to remove your lotion.
  • Store your products in dark containers or opaque packaging to keep them away from the harmful effects of sunlight
  • If going preservative-free.... It's important to remember that your natural products will not stay fresh for as long as commercial products do. By making your products in small batches that you use up within a short period of time, your products will stay fresh and you eliminate the need to preserve your products with harsh chemical preservatives.

There are a few natural preservative methods out there. Let's explore those:

Using Antioxidants to extend the shelf life of homemade beauty products:

An anti-oxidant is a preservative that reduces the rate of oxidation in oils that oxidize quickly. Oxidation is a chemical process that occurs when oils or other natural ingredients are exposed to oxygen. Anti-oxidants extend the shelf life of your natural homemade beauty  products by reducing the rate of oxidation of your oils.

When to use an antioxidant:
You'll want to use an antioxidant in any formulation which contains fragile oils such as sweet almond, hemp, avocado, flax or evening primrose. Any product containing oils can benefit from the addition of an antioxidant.

Which Antioxidants to use in skin, nail and hair care recipes:
  • T-50 Vitamin E Oil: T-50 Vitamin E Oil contain larger amounts of gamma tocopherols, natural antioxidants, then regular Vitamin E oils.
  • Rosemary Oil Extract: Rosemary Oil Extract is also a wonderful natural antioxidant. Use at a ratio rate of .15 to .5 %

Using Anti-Microbials to extend the shelf life of homemade beauty products:

An anti-microbial is an ingredient or substance that helps to destroy unwanted micro-organisms such as bacteria.

Which Antioxidants to use in skin, nail and hair care recipes:

Grapefruit Seed Extract: Grapefruit Seed Extract is a citrus seed based anti-microbial used as a preservative in skin care products. Use GSE at .5 to 1%

Some essential oils that have demonstrated antimicrobial properties are caraway, cinnamon, clove, cumin, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, rose, rosemary, sage, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme. To properly preserve products for long periods of time, you'll need to exceed the recommendations for safe amounts in skin care products. If using these EOs to preserve products, make batches smaller and use them quickly.

Your safest way to preserve your natural recipes is to avoid water in the formulation and make small amounts!

Now, the fun part! Let's get to work.
